Diferentes cortes provenientes de Estados Unidos, Argentina y Brasil compiten con la producción local

El
más reciente boletín expedido por la Asociación de Productores Avícolas de
Chile
 (APA) resaltó el aumento de cortes
de pollo importado en ese país austral. De acuerdo con este documento, “las
importaciones totales de pollo aumentaron un 12.6 por ciento entre enero y
septiembre del 2014 con respecto a igual período del año anterior, lo que
demuestra una tendencia al alza en lo que va del año, lo que ha significado una
fuerte competencia para los productores nacionales”.

En el mismo informe, la APA señaló que
simultáneamente “ha aumentado el volumen importado y existe una mayor
diversidad de productos y cortes provenientes de Estados Unidos, Argentina y
Brasil. En este escenario los mayores beneficiados han sido los consumidores
debido a la gran competencia que se ha generado de presentaciones y marcas para
un mismo corte en distintos puntos de venta”.

Estados
Unidos se ha consolidado como el principal proveedor de trutros o perniles, en
tanto que desde Brasil ingresan mayoritariamente pechugas deshuesadas y de
Argentina llegan pollos enteros congelados. Estos tres cortes de pollo
concentran alrededor del 74 por ciento de las importaciones que ingresan a
Chile, siendo los perniles el corte que más entra a este mercado.

afirmando que “este crecimiento de las importaciones se traduce en que hoy el
16 por ciento de los diferentes cortes de pollo que consumen los chilenos es de
origen extranjero, algo mayor que lo reportado en años anteriores”
